thedailyfeed:

More and more Americans are now working more than one job to make ends meet. And the number of Americans working part-time jobs instead of full-time jobs ticked up to 9.1 million in September, up 5% from August.

“It’s horrible,” said Mike Barrett, a 40-year-old New Hampshire resident. “Even if you have a job, you’re not making enough money.”
By day, Barrett operates an independent shipping store that he owns in Exeter, N.H., which is struggling to make a profit. After he recovered from a recent seven-month battle with cancer, Barrett started working at Home Depot from 8 p.m. until midnight, five days a week. One night last week, he hefted 32 toilets onto a high shelf. “It’s just sort of for day-to-day expenses right now, and unfortunately this will continue for a while,” he said.
